written on the back of my notes on “Externalist Theories of Empirical Knowledge”
[from 2009]
We smoke away the last remnants of winter,
prod along its delayed exile
by punctuated breath and dispersion,
pry its icicle-fingers from the air
which is seeping into our skin and hanging
in our bones.
We look like laughing monuments,
mirthful and shivering
under a purple sky with one star,
a one-eyed star,
a one-starred eye,
watching the monster and I,
side by side,
swinging our feet in the rain.

words that seem more than they mean…
i keep lists.
i kept a list for five months of phrases that resonated with me.
there were twelve: from hemingway, joni mitchell, eliot, kerouac, speed levitch, the Smiths, lil’ wayne, oscar wilde, and four from charles bukowski.
two years later, they are all still true. and i still don’t know what they mean..
